Poems, endless and imaginative

Elysium

Jessica K. Shannon

Perfect place of peace
only in my dreams
Elysium.

Beside you in the snow
No where else to go
Elysium.

Curled up with a book
All work I forsook
Elysium.

Dancing in your arms
Safe from all harm
Elysium.

Butterflies leave their mark
On picnics in the park
Elysium.

More common than it seems
Not only in my dreams
Elysium.

Darling

Jessica K. Shannon

Oh, darling, your love is to me
a melody
Oh, darling, your voice is to me
but a dream.

It's wonder, it's magic that I
call you my own.
Like seeds from a love tree
that we both have sown.

Why does my heart call to yours
like a song?
Why does my hand for yours
always long?

It's your fault I'm endlessly
floating this way.
Above all life's cares,
to your heart song I sway.

And, darling, I know
what we share can't be seen.
It's brightly painted in colors
on an angel's soft wing.

God's Lullaby

Jessica K. Shannon

What is this thing called dreaming,
which takes my breath away?
Why do I feel as though I can do anything
when I merely call Your name?

While I feel the rocks beneath my feet,
as I'm standing in this place,
I feel transported to a time
where the shadows can't erase.

My life, my love, my inspiration, all seem a step away.
My dreams can't hold my hand forever,
It won't be just me someday.

But I can wish, hope, and imagine
until the day I see Your face.
You'll wash away my tears and sadness,
with just one ounce of Your sweet grace.
